Glorious two-tone flower spikes in shades of red and yellow adorn these neat compact evergreen perennials over an incredibly long period – from midsummer through to October! From the Kniphofia ‘Popsicle series’, Red Hot Poker ‘Papaya Popsicle’ produces an abundance of flowers above neat clumps of slender, grass-like leaves which remain neat and attractive throughout the seasons. With origins in South Africa, these dwarf red hot pokers are drought tolerant and make a perfect low-maintenance addition to hot dry borders, gravel gardens, herbaceous borders or patio containers. Torch lilies are also an excellent choice for coastal gardens. Height: 35cm (14″). Spread: 40cm (16″).

Torch lilies prefer a sunny or semi shaded position in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.

Water regularly until established. Cut back faded Kniphofia flower heads in autumn and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant. Lift and divide clumps of Red Hot Pokers in spring every third year to maintain their vigour.
